TRADITIONAL OR Virtual ?

The Choice is Yours

For over two decades the University community has been supporting the valuable work of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  Over the years we have collected well in excess of 2 million units of food.

With our regional, national and world economies weakened, hunger is a more pressing problem than ever before.  The Food Bank is serving more people with fewer supplies.

Reaching Out & Making an Impact

This April, the Pitt community is reaching out to donate            essential food and household products. Collection bins are available around campus.  For food pick-ups contact:

412-624-7709 or stz@pitt.edu

Who Benefits  ?

You might be surprised:  It could be your neighbor, your childhood friend, a former classmate – even people you know through work -- our own working poor.  Food Bank officials report that more people are using their services for the first time.  They report that the face of hunger in our region is changing and expanding.

Pet food is also welcome.  Animal companions supply crucial emotional support during hard times.  They often act as the most basic source of personal safety for our otherwise isolated elderly and disabled neighbors.

VIRTUAL FOOD DRIVE & Giving On-Line

The advantages of giving on-line are many. Not only will it save you the trouble of buying, bagging and lugging the food to work with you.  It will also allow the Food Bank to purchase the food that it needs most at less than half its retail price.

Please consider the bounty that you enjoy and remember your unemployed and needy neighbors.  Visit the web site below and be as generous as possible:
