Government Relations

The Office of Government Relations and Advocacy advances a two-way flow of information between the University of Pittsburgh and government representatives at the city, county, state, and federal levels of government. Acting as the primary liaison between Pitt and government offices, Government Relations advocates to promote Pitt interests. By engaging across the University to develop an awareness of Pitt strengths, the government relations staff can successfully raise awareness of the University's expertise and lobby to secure support for programs and activities.

Local Governmental Relations

Government Relations and Advocacy is the University's liaison with the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, serving as the University's principal source of information on city and county governmental matters and the institutional point of contact for local governments.

Government Relations and Advocacy represents Pitt's interests in Pennsylvania State Assembly. By maintaining a presence in Harrisburg and establishing strong relationships with legislators, Government Relations can raise the profile of the University and promote it as a resource for the commonwealth.

Government Relations and Advocacy represents Pitt in Washington, D.C. By maintaining relationships with federal legislators, government agencies and administrative departments, Government Relations can communicate Pitt's priorities and work to secure funding for programs and projects.

Lobbying and Expense Disclosure

Lobbying is defined as total time spent, on behalf of the University, on any and all efforts to influence legislative or administrative agency action. Where you may have engaged in activities defined as "Lobbying" at the local, state, or federal level, please follow instructions to report this effort.
